Kensington Winners - Tips For Wednesday 11th June

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Kensington meeting. Selections based on a soft track.

Race 1 - 1:25PM TAB HANDICAP (1150 METRES)

8. Albany Road didn’t run up to expectation when in the market on debut back in December but he’s come back in good order looking at his two trial wins in the past month. Will roll forward and is the likely leader and should give a good .

Dangers: 1. Cold Brew was runner-up at his first three starts before failing at Warwick Farm in January. Another who has returned with some nice trial performances and draws to get every chance. 4. Harry’s Evidence was well ed into odds-on at his debut and found one a bit speedier over the 1000m at Hawkesbury. Better for it and a bit firmer ground is a plus. One of the chances. 2. Stardeel bumped into a handy one at the Sunshine Coast then had heat stress but still ran on well into fourth at the Farm before a spell. Trial winner over 1208m recently. Should run well, just whether it's a bit sharp for him fresh.

How to play it: Albany Road WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 2:00PM ASAHI SUPER DRY PLATE (1400 METRES)

8. Oso Spirited is an interesting ex-NZ filly having her first local start for the Waterhouse/Bott stable. She trialled strongly when scoring at Rosehill in her latest and should get a nice run in or near the lead at this trip. Any market would be a good push. Go well.

Dangers: 9. Sister Daae likely gives away a start from the outside barrier as she’s done in her past couple when drawn wide. Kicking off at 1400m might suit her, though, and if the race pans out in her favour she should be hard to beat. 4. Vetwelve had when placed at this track and trip first-up then favourite and may have been on the wrong part of the track when a battling fourth at Kembla. Entitled to another chance. 7. Invisible Magic ran well at big odds at debut at Warwick Farm in a handy form race then no match but game when runner-up at Newcastle on a heavy 10. No surprise to see her show up.

How to play it: Oso Spirited WIN ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 2:35PM HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP (2400 METRES)

6. Wuddzz found himself in a tricky position at Randwick last time and attacked the line hard once clear but the bird had flown. Solidly ed favourite there and looks to have every chance to atone with a smaller field and softer gate. Entitled to go close.

Dangers: 1. Casual Connection has beaten Wuddzz twice and is 2.5kg worse off for the latest win but he does have that on pace style which helped him out in his latest victory. It might well see him home again and he’s a logical danger. 5. Rattle And Hum has worked his way back to form with his past couple and he gave a good sight when narrowly beaten at Warwick Farm last week over 2200m. On pacer who has won at this track and trip and can give a sight. 7. Tympanist has won five from 12 at this track and while he is jumping in distance he has been placed at 2200m and gets a nice weight drop on last time. Wouldn’t shock if he loomed up.

How to play it: Wuddzz WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 3:10PM BROADSIDING @ DARLEY HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

2. Vanessi is a lightly raced filly who looks suited with gate one behind what should be a solid speed over the 1000m. Wasn’t disgraced in a handy field before a spell and she sailed around to win her latest trial last week. Expect she’ll be in the finish.

Dangers: 8. O’Invincible hasn’t raced since scoring on protest at Wyong in December and both her wins now have been at this trip. Trialled in early April then a small setback didn’t see her resurface until two weeks ago where she won a trial at Warwick Farm. Could easily measure up. 3. Columbia Blue was too speedy in the heavy ground when an all the way winner at Hawkesbury at his second start. Looks a horse on the way up and is one of the chances. 1. Livin’ Thing scored a popular Kembla win a month ago then favourite and battled a bit on the heavy 10 at Warwick Farm finishing fourth. A bit better ground here suits and he’s worth another chance.

How to play it: Vanessi WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 3:45PM HELLBENT @ YARRAMAN PARK HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

3. California Sunrise is bursting to win a race. Had one snatched from her at this track a month ago then probably found herself too far back at Rosehill last time. Down a notch in grade back to fillies and mares, and has another chance to break through if the race pans out for her.

Dangers: 7. Trafalgar Square is another with just the one win to her name but this race looks to suit her at 1400m. Placed in a Midway at Gosford at 1200m then jumped sharply in trip and faded on her run at Canterbury. Nicely drawn and on her best is in the mix. 1. Super Nui creeps up in the weights now but is hard to fault with a couple of dominant all the way wins at Hawkesbury on heavy ground in May. In form and sure to give a sight up front. 8. Lowlands is an interesting runner who has placed at her ls three runs in Victoria. Favourite in the last two of those but wary she gets in well with a claim and draws to stalk. Must include.

How to play it: California Sunrise WIN ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds).

California Sunrise runs fifth at Rosehill on May 31

Race 6 - 4:20PM ALL TOO HARD @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

11. Kyeema was solid in the market and ran a much improved race when a close fourth at Canterbury two weeks ago. Gets to 1400m now which looks ideal and any improvement in the track is likely a plus. Draws well and if he’s going to fire at this level he has a good each-way chance.

Dangers: 9. Stallone raced on the speed when resuming on a heavy 10 at Warwick Farm and just weakened late to run fourth. Much better for it and getting away from heavy is a plus. Keep in mind. 6. Delrico went for a break after a game all the way win at Canterbury at the end of January and just the one trial leading into this. Hasn’t done a lot wrong and stays under notice fresh. 4. Inside Man took improvement out of his first-up run when scoring a narrow win at Canterbury and now looks ready for the extra trip. Down 2kg after the claim and every chance from the inside draw.

How to play it: Kyeema EACH-WAY ($11 TAB Fixed Odds).
